The area

The self catering "La Rochefleurie" form a setting for a quiet, pleasant stay and a convenient central spot for exploring the region. AIl the major chateaux of the middle Loire Valley (Amboise, Azay le-Rideau, Blois, Chambord, Chaumont, Langeais, Valençay and many others) with their historic districts and their remarkable civil and ecclesiastical buildings, as well as such historic towns as Tours, Loches and Vendome, are within a 60 km radius,and many of them are even closer.

For miles, the river offers plenty of fishing and boating walk opportunities, and you can, cycle or go horseriding in the forest of Amboise, on the banks of the river, or amongst the vineyards. Your will be pleased to help you to plan all your trips.

Chenonceau
The castle of Chenonceau, which seems to have crossed the centuries without suffering from the ravages of time, seems still today one of the purest masterpieces of the French Renaissance...

Loches
The town of Loches is classified Ville of Art and History. Tourism is an essential resource there and Loches has a great number of historic buildings which made it index among "More beautiful detour of France".

Le Grand Pressigny
With the southern point of Touraine, drained by Claise and its affluents, limited to the west by la Creuse, is inserted a corner between the Poitevin plate and Brenne with the fabulous ponds. Here, an original country, strange Touraine extends which does not resemble the other traditional stereotypes, Touraine which will surprise without disappointing all those which will take time to stop there... here... one can with each step, to discover the alive history, and what a history! With you to discover it!

Amboise
Amboise is one of the cities of the Loire Valley whose history is oldest. It is with its particular geographical situation that it owes this prestige. The large island (Gold Island, called formerly St-Jean island because of the presence of a St-Jean vault) which separates the Loire in two arms, opposite the site where draws up the city and its fabulous castle, returned the crossing of the Loire easier than elsewhere.
Built in XVth and XVIth centuries on the orders of Charles VIII, Louis XII and François Ier, the castle of Amboise was the first royal residence of the French Rebirth. It is today the prestigious witness and shelters an exceptional collection of furniture for it.

Courçay
A picturesque village with a church of XIIth century. This church and the borough belonged to the Abbey of St Martin de Tours which set up Courçay in "Prévoté". The Gallo-Roman way going from Loches to Tours passed to Courçay.

Azay sur Indre
This village has a small typical church. There was also in Azay a Priory which belonged to the Abbey of Noyers (close to Nouatre). A Roman way gallo passed close to the borough.
It is in this place that a small river, Indrois, is thrown in Indre. Indrois crosses the countries of Montrésor, Genillé, Saint Quentin and Chédigny.

Reignac
This village was called Bray then Fau in the Middle Ages and was the seat of a Seigniory then Baronnie. On the slope of Indre was a strong castle of which there do not remain any more traces. The current castle was built at the XVIIème century, at this point in time the village took the name of Reignac.
It is in Bray (Reignac) that was born the Pope Martin IV.

Truyes
This village has a church of XIth century with a curious bell-tower. It belonged to the Abbey of Cormery as well as the Priory of Truyes.
The commune has some remainders of an old aqueduct of the Gallo-Roman time.
